Skin Analysis
Skin analysis is a professional service that allows an esthetician to determines a person’s skin type, skin conditions, and what treatment is appropriate for the person. Regular treatment by a qualified esthetician can help keep a person’s skin clear and beautiful. Determining skin conditions in a professional Spa is a great way to ensure healthy and beautiful skin.
Skin Imperfections
Even before the esthetician touches a client, the esthetician will examine the client’s skin for overall appearance. Skin analysis can be used to reveal imperfections such as: Sun Damage, Age Spots, Dehydration, Acne, Melasma, Discoloration and Pigment Issues. An esthetician will look for factors such as oily skin with breakouts, red or very sensitive skin, wrinkles and fine lines, dry, dull and aging skin.
Initial Process
If it is your first time, the esthetician will want to have a few questions answered about any skin conditions, medications, diet and so on. This can help to determine what is most important to the client in their skincare.
Once the client is on the table, the esthetician starts by wrapping the hair with a headband or towel. The first step in the facial treatment is a thorough cleansing of the skin, using cotton pads. The esthetician sponges or wipes the skin to remove all traces of make-up, exposing blackheads, broken capillaries and uneven skin tone. During the cleansing process, the esthetician will feel how smooth or rough the person’s skin is.
In-depth Skin Analysis
After the initial step, the esthetician performs an in-depth skin analysis, using a magnifying lamp. The magnifying lamp allows the esthetician to have a clear view of the skin, including all the imperfections that are too small to easily see. The client’s eyes are usually covered with cool cotton eyepads before turning on the bright light from the magnifying lamp.
During the skin analysis procedure, the esthetician should tell the client about the condition of the skin, and what can be done to improve it. The esthetician will often make recommendations based on what the skin looks like, and obtain the client’s agreement. If there is anything that needs a dermatologist’s evaluation, it will also be noted.
Advanced Skin Care
After performing a professional skin analysis and noting the client’s skin type and condition, the aesthetician will be able to determine the needs of the skin in each distinct area of the client’s face. By using this in-depth analysis the esthetician will be able to customize their recommendations for skin care products and any professional treatments that will be necessary.
Preventative Skin Care
The skin is a lot more complicated than looks, and different individuals have different skin types. It is a good idea to get an in-depth skin analysis to maintain good looking skin. Ongoing skin analysis or treatment is necessary for corrective and preventative skin care.
