Swedish -

Swedish massage is the most commonly offered and best known type of massage. If you are new to receiving massages, it is the best massage to start with.

Utilizing a combination of five basic strokes:
effleurage (long, gliding strokes to improve circulation), petrissage (picking up and squeezing the muscles), friction (direct pressure), tapotement (quick, light striking movements) and vibration (rhythmic shaking). They are firm but gentle pressure to help improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and create relaxation. Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of Western massage, including sports, deep tissue and aromatherapy

30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes. $45, $60, $75 and $100

Deep Tissue -

Please take note: The term “deep tissue” is often misused to identify a massage that is performed with sustained deep pressure. If a practitioner employs deep tissue techniques on the entire body in one session, it would be next to impossible to perform? it might lead to injury or localized muscle and nerve trauma, thereby rendering the session counterproductive.

Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Utilizing many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense.

To addresses the client’s specific complaints and pain, We use a dedicated set of techniques and strokes to achieve a measure of relief. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, tendons and fascia. Passive and active stretching may be used to assist the muscles in releasing adhesions. The purpose is to “unstick” the fibers of a muscle while releasing deeply held patterns of tension, removing toxins, while relaxing and soothing the muscle. It is both corrective and therapeutic.

Neuromuscular Massage (Trigger Point Therapy)-

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy addresses trigger points. A trigger point is a hyper-irritable spot that is painful. It is called a trigger point because it “triggers” a painful response to another area of the body. Trigger points are located in a tight band of muscle fibers and their most tender point in the band.

We educate the client about their body and give them control of the massage using a number system to communicate about pressure and release while applying pressure to the trigger point. The scale ranks from 1 through 10. Number 1 is very little pressure and number 10 is pain beyond pain. The resting numbers are 7 or 8. We do not want you to be in pain. When you are in pain, you tighten your muscles which defeats the objective.

We will locate and deactivate the trigger point using a combination of slow strokes and a pincer grip (picking up the muscle fibers) at a moderate depth to loosen and lower the tone setting in the muscle to help the client stay out of pain.

It took a while to get the muscle in this condition. Depending on how long the trigger point has been chronic and in a “holding” pattern will determine how many massages are needed to alleviate pain. In addition, clients are taught how to move in different ways to keep the pain from reoccurring.

Reflexology (Zone Therapy)-

Based on an ancient Chinese therapy, reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex zones on the feet. It is sometimes referred to as zones to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion. specific reflex zones on the feet.
This body work involves application of pressure to these reflex zones to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion.

Similar to acupressure principles, reflexology works with the body’s energy flow to stimulate self healing and maintain balance in physical function.

This technique is used to relax the central nervous system, reduce pain,
increase relaxation, and stimulate circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids. It
is especially useful in stress related illness and emotional disorders.

Reflexology is also convenient in cases where an area of the body is
traumatized or diseased to the extent that direct manipulation is not
appropriate.

We offer two treatments of Reflexology?
30 minutes treatment on only the feet and
60 minute treatment covers the feet and a scalp massage.

Plantar Fasciitis Therapy-

Plantar fasciitis is a common, painful foot condition. Plantar fasciitis refers to the syndrome of inflammation of the band of tissue that runs from the heel
along the arch of the foot.

Who gets plantar fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis is most often seen in middle aged men and women, but can be found in all age groups.

Plantar fasciitis is diagnosed with the classic symptoms of pain well localized
over the heel area of the bottom of the foot. Often the pain from plantar
fasciitis is most severe when you first stand on your feet in the morning. Pain
often subsides quite quickly, but then returns after prolonged standing or
walking.

Plantar fasciitis is sometimes, but not always, associated with a rapid gain of
weight. Plantar fasciitis is sometimes seen in recreational athletes, especially
runners. In these athletes, it is thought that the repetitive nature of the sports
causes the damage to the fibrous tissue that forms the arch of the foot.

Why did I get plantar fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis occurs because of irritation to the thick ligamentous connective tissue that runs from the heel bone to the ball of the foot. This strong and tight tissue contributes to maintaining the arch of the foot. It is also one of the major transmitters of weight across the foot as you walk or run. Therefore, the stress placed on the tissue is tremendous.

Initial management of plantar fasciitis involves controlling the inflammatory process in your foot. This usually involves using ice to decrease the pain and
inflammation in the plantar fascia. We preform ice bottle massage combined
with reflexology. This application technique has the added benefit of gently
massaging the tissue on the bottom of your foot. The ice bottle massage and reflexology can provide a gentle stretch to your plantar fascia, which may help to improve overall mobility in your arch and foot.
