HOW DO YOU KNOW IF JUVEDERM® IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

PERLANE

Perlane®, like Restylane®, is a hyaluronic acid used for the treatment of age-related depressions of the face around the nose and mouth.
RESTALYNE VS. PERLANE
The same properties in Restalyne are found in Perlane, with the difference between Restalyne and Perlane® being that Perlane has larger gel particles of hyaluronic acid, which is intended for those who have deeper folds and more defined facial lines and creases.
The average size of the particles in Perlane is greater and the injection goes deeper in the layers of the dermis, giving a much a higher restructuring capability.
WHO BENEFITS FROM PERLANE?
Physicians will often choose to use Perlane® in patients who wish to add cheek volume, as well as those who want more significant facial contouring.
Where Restylane® is often placed directly into smaller lines and wrinkles to fill them, Perlane® is used to fill larger deficits and provide contouring, or for smoothing the general areas beneath the creases.

Radiesse® treatment can be done over a lunch hour, injections under the skin are quick and safe.
The injections can mixed with Lidocaine, so there is minimal discomfort from the injections. Side effects are minor and may include swelling, mild irritation, redness itching, tenderness, and bruising from the injections may occur, and usually go away in less than a week, if side effects persist, the office should be contacted. Blood thinning medications, such as aspirin, NSAIDS, Vitamin E, herbal supplements, some other supplements and other prescriptions and over the counter drugs should be discussed before treatment, as they may cause more bleeding or bruising at the injection site.
The filler substance used in Radiesse®, is similar to substances found naturally in the body, so allergy tests are not considered necessary, however Radiesse® is not considered appropriate for patients who have many severe allergies or that experienced anaphylaxis. Radiesse® is not FDA approved for use in patients under 18, pregnant or nursing women, most other people will be able to have the treatment.
The cost of Radiesse® is not usually covered by insurance, however since the treatment lasts so long, the treatments are more economical than other wrinkle filling injections. Often only one treatment is necessary. Radiesse® patients report more satisfaction with their results than some other treatments.

WHAT IS RESTYLANE-L?
Restylane-L, a cosmetic derma-filler, is a transparent, lubricating gel of hyaluronic acid which is used to treat facial wrinkles and folds. As we age and our skin thins the gradual decrease in volume leaves folds and creases around our nose and mouth area. These are called nasolabial folds.
WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?
Hyaluronic acid is a substance normally produced by the body that gives skin its youthful volume and fullness.
RESTYLANE-L AND YOUR HAPPY FACE
Restylane-L is injected into the areas of facial tissue of the nasolabial folds, where moderate to severe wrinkles and folds appear. Because Restylane-L gel temporarily adds volume to the skin and gives the appearance of a smoother surface, it is also great for thin lips.
DO YOUR LIPS LIE?
There’s an expression called “Divine Proportion” which, from an artist’s viewpoint, describes how we view a beautiful face. Taking the proportion of the lips, draw a line from the corners of your mouth to the middle of your pupil. The corners should align to the middle of your pupil. Now, measure the fullness of your lips. The ideal proportion being that the upper lip accounts for 40% in height to 60% volume from the center of the lower lip.
Of course, this is not the golden rule for everyone, but for those with thin, undefined lips, it marks a great starting point for improving the shape and fullness.

IS RESTYLANE-L SAFE?
The hyaluronic acid used in Restylane-L is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA), which means it is not derived from animal sources and was approved by the FDA in December 2003.
While Restylane-L is perfectly safe, some patients experience redness and swelling, or tenderness which can last from 7 to 14 days, depending on the area of the injection and the sensitivity level of the skin.
*Restylane-L does contain 0.3% Lidocaine and should not be used by anyone who has a known allergy to Lidocaine.
