Day One
The Procedure
Dr. Bunch was great! Here, he explains everything he's doing. If you are viewing on your mobile phone the video is not available unfortunately but if you want to watch the whole process go to your desktop or laptop to check it out!
He was very down to earth and knowledgable and made me feel comfortable.
My lips were numbed thirty minutes prior so the needle wasn't too bad. I didn't expect to be able to feel the needle at all but I was still able to feel some pinching/pressure.
Dr. Bunch used 1cc syringe of Restylane in both upper and lower lip combined but mostly focusing on the upper lip.
Overall, the procedure took maybe five minutes not including the time it took to numb and was a pretty easy experience.
Day One
Minutes after the injection
I took these images right after the procedure and this is pretty close to how they ended up looking after healing. My first reaction was that I looked weird! I wasn't used to having such full lips but believe me, I love them now! I was given ice and told to ice my lips for ten minutes at a time and then it was also suggested that I take ibuprofen or naproxen and a Benadryl at night.
Why Restylane?
Restylane contains an active ingredient called hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body that helps to fill in skin.
A Restylane injection is designed to work like this natural hyaluronic acid in the body to fill in creases to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Restylane is FDA approved and is considered to be the safest method of smoothing skin. If you are concerned about the effects of medical treatments in relation to the environment, you can rest assured that Restylane is biodegradable and is not sourced from animals
Day Two
The day of being swollen
WHOA
So, the doctor warned me that I would wake up swollen so I wasn't concerned but it was definitely a shock to look in the mirror and see my lips so big! I am sharing this so that you can know what to expect but don't let this image deter you, just don't schedule a date for the day after lip injections! I looked like this for about 24hrs. I was never worried and chose to just have humor in the situation.
